Choose a browser for each web link, or let saved website rules choose for you. Browser Picker is a native menu-bar utility for macOS 13 or later.
Start opening links with Browser Picker
- Launch Browser Picker and select Set as Default Browser in General settings.
- Approve any macOS request. If the change is incomplete, search System Settings for Default web browser and select Browser Picker.
- Open a link from Notes, Mail, or another Mac app. Choose an installed browser in the picker.
Send websites to a preferred browser
Turn on Always use this browser for this website before choosing a browser. A successful open saves an exact-hostname rule. To include subdomains, add a rule in Website Rules and enable Include subdomains. More specific rules take priority.
A browser is missing
Install a supported browser, then select Refresh in Browsers settings. The picker shows supported browsers installed on your Mac. A rule pointing to a browser that is no longer available leaves the link in the picker so you can choose another.
Links keep asking, or open automatically
Check Website Rules, the fallback browser in General settings, and Pause automatic routing. Pause shows the picker for each link until you turn it off or quit. Hold Option while opening a link to bypass rules once.
Several links arrive together
Incoming links wait in memory. Choose a browser to open the current link, select Skip to advance, or Cancel all to clear the queue. Pending links are discarded when the app quits.
Switch back or uninstall
Choose Use another default in General settings, or select your browser in macOS System Settings. Restore another default before deleting Browser Picker.
Version 1 scope
Browser Picker opens HTTP and HTTPS links in other installed browsers. It does not display web content or support browser profiles or private windows. It uses no account, analytics, advertising, or backend service.
