My camera’s RAW files will not develop
bitLight uses the camera RAW support built into macOS. Check your camera model and macOS version; a newer camera may need a macOS update that adds support. Try a known-good file from a supported camera to narrow down the issue. Rendering is not expected to exactly match another RAW editor.
An early imported RAW looks like a small TIFF
RAW files imported by an early development build may need File → Repair RAW Files Imported as TIFF. Keep a backup of your library before repairing old imports.
I need to compare my edit with the original
Choose Show Original (⌘\). Use ⌘1 to inspect detail at 100%. Subject masks can need refinement; do not assume every photo has a clearly detectable subject.
I cannot find my exported files
Export Photos asks for a destination. Check that folder and look for a numbered name if an existing file used the same name. Choose a writable folder with enough space and confirm an external drive is connected. Review the export recipe or Customize settings before trying again.
I want to move or back up my library
Quit bitLight, then copy the entire .bitphoto package. Use File → Open Session to open it in a new location. Save Session Copy is also available for a backup. Keep the original library until you have checked the copy.
A feature I used elsewhere is missing
Panorama merge, AI noise reduction, importing another editor’s catalog, cloud sync and plug-ins are not included. Basic XMP settings can be read, but results can differ.
