bitPhoto: open source & Pocket Bits additions

On this page

Built on open source. Extended by Pocket Bits.

bitPhoto is built on the open-source PhotoCraft editor by the ArtCraft Team, under MIT/Apache-2.0 licenses. The editor foundation and its authors are credited in the app.

What Pocket Bits added

  • Apple Vision subject cutout: on-device subject detection and an editable layer-mask workflow through Layer → Remove Background.
  • The Focus workspace: bitPhoto’s default layout, light and dark appearance, and a title-bar Export button.
  • Mac file integration: App Sandbox support with native file access and HEIC import.
  • Mac App Store preparation: packaging and related integration work for the current candidate.

PhotoCraft supplies the editor foundation; Pocket Bits’ additions extend its cutout workflow, workspace and Mac integration.

Where to find the notices

See the app’s About box and bundled Licenses for acknowledgments and license notices. This page describes the current development preview.
